Spam and Virus email filtering

NCOL.NET uses state of the art virus scanning software in the efforts to eliminate viruses from our network. In this effort, we scan all incoming emails and scan all servers once per hour. This effort helps us assure our customers of the most available protection.

Does this mean no one will get a virus?
We can't say with all certainty that no viruses will get through our systems but we can say that we are taking all necessary steps to stop viruses before they reach any of our end users, AND IT'S ALL FREE TO OUR CUSTOMERS!

What if I get a message that says DEFANGED!
This simply means that we detected a message with a virus being sent to you. We removed the virus and will forward this notice to you instead. It does not contain a virus only a notification.

SPAM is becoming a headache for all Internet users. NCOL.NET has instituted a filter that will label all SPAM messages with SPAM-ALERT! in the subject to let our customers know what we detect as SPAM.

Why can't you just delete SPAM?
NCOL.NET can't delete mail detected as SPAM because no SPAM filter is 100% effective. However with the proper setup, customers will see very little SPAM in their inboxes. Click here to setup a rule in Outlook Express.

What if there is a message in SPAM that isn't SPAM?
If you receive messages that have SPAM-ALERT in the subject but they aren't SPAM, please email the address the message was sent from to hostmaster@ncol.net. This email address will be added to a special list and should not be detected as SPAM in the future. This process can take 24 hours to take effect.

This is not SPAM!
Use this form to submit email addresses that are incorrectly being tagged with SPAM-ALERT!

How do I setup a rule in Outlook Express to remove the SPAM-ALERT messages?
Your email program will automatically delete that message the next time it checks for messages.

Step 1:

Open Outlook Express. Click on Message Rules, then click Mail.

Step 2:

Once your new mail rule screen appears check the boxes that reads "when the subject line contains specific words" and "Delete It From Server" in the second block. Once both those boxes are checked click the "contains specific words" link.

Step 3:

When the "Type Specific Words" screen comes up type SPAM-ALERT! in the top box and hit Add.

After you hit add to SPAM-ALERT! also add INFECTED!

Step 4:

SPAM-ALERT! and INFECTED! should go down into the box under Words:

Step 5:

Once that is complete click OK on the next two screens that comes up and it should bring you back to your Message Rules screen with the newly added Rule #1 that deletes your tagged SPAM email.

Step 6:

That should complete the spam email rule on your computer, now instead of looking though the endless bulk and spam message they will be sent directly to your deleted items.

If you have any problems with the spam email filter and setting up the rules please send us an email and we will provide you with further support.

Also if you WANT your spam email messages, email Technical Support and we will remove you off filter list.
